About the Federation

The Peak Body for Liberal Students Across Australia

Founded in 1948, the Australian Liberal Students’ Federation (ALSF) is the national voice of conservative students and the official student wing of the Liberal Party of Australia. For more than 75 years, we have united campus Liberal Clubs across the country into a single, coordinated movement dedicated to shaping the future of Australia through student activism and leadership.

We bring together thousands of students from every state and territory to organise campaigns, influence policy, and represent Liberal values on campus and beyond. The ALSF exists to connect and empower Liberal students, providing the structure, resources, and national network needed to make an impact.

Through our annual Federal Council, policy forums, campaigns, and leadership development programs, we prepare the next generation of political leaders in conservative politics. Many of Australia’s most influential decision-makers began their journey in an ALSF-affiliated club - building the skills, networks, and experience that shaped their careers in politics, business, and public policy.

With our nationwide reach and deep connections to senior political leaders, think tanks, and policy-makers, the ALSF stands at the centre of the student movement, ensuring that Liberal students are organised, influential, and ready to lead.

Our Impact Across Australia

What is the Australian Liberal Students' Federation?

The ALSF is the national student wing of the Liberal Party of Australia, established in 1948. We are Australia's oldest and most active centre-right student political organisation. Our mission is to promote liberal democratic values on campuses, train future leaders, and engage students in public affairs.

How can I get involved with the ALSF?

You can join by completing our membership application form and connecting with your local affiliated Liberal Club. Membership provides access to conferences, policy forums, networking events, and our publication Protégé. We welcome students from all universities who share our commitment to liberal democratic values and want to make a difference in Australian politics.
